The Saraf Collection

The Saraf family, patrons and collectors of art, have begun an unique enterprise gathering and displaying large scale collections of contemporary arts embodying single and related themes.

The initial collection "The Fifth Seal" exhibited at Yak & Yeti Hotel from 1997 portrays calligraphic forms inspired by South and Central Asian alphabets.

This collection "Unaccountable Objects" -now on display at the Hyatt Regency Kathmandu- presents a new range of works on paper by Rolf A. Kluenter that aquires the density of objects without losing the free form of inwardness that paints evokes.

The inspiration for both projects was born out of an ongoing dialogue between the collector and the artist. Mr. Saraf's generosity of view has allowed the artist to pursue and link through a number of works an aesthetic that is both personal and trans-cultural.

The patron who gathers objects of value with the intent to exhibiting while maintening the integrity and interplay of numerous works by a single artist chooses the Hotel as the ultimate venue for art in the age of worldwide culture.
